Xiangxi Arts Exhibition opened in Shanghai

The Xiangxi Arts Exhibition opened in Shanghai on October 20. 284 Xiangxi’s art masterpieces are showcased at the Shanghai Duoyunxuan Art Center, including works created by famous painters Huang Tieshan and Liu Hongzhou, famous calligraphers Lin Shijiu and Huang Ye, as well as Ye Liping, a master of arts and crafts in Hunan. With four exhibition halls, it allows visitors to appreciate the nature, culture and history of Hunan through calligraphy, painting, photography and art works.

Xiangxi Prefecture has profound historical culture, with rich ethnic customs. It is a cultural and ecological protection zone for the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups in the Wuling Mountain area (Western Hunan) of China. It has 178 traditional Chinese villages and 28 national intangible cultural heritage projects, including Tujia Maogusi dance, Tujia brocade weaving, and Miao paintings.

The Liye Qin bamboo slips amaze the world, and its folk skills such as climbing the knife ladder and spurting fire are astonishing.
